Model Expansion – Are you brand Loyal?

It's interesting to see manufacturers expanding their range of models to increase the depth of their market penetration. While the number of new vehicles sold in Australia remains relatively stable, increasing by only 1% from Oct 2016 to Oct 2017, companies are finding other ways to increase their market share.

Model expansion

Mercedes with the GL range, BMW added the 1 and 2 series, and Audi released the Q2 this year in Australia. Does Audi increase its overall sales with the introduction of a larger range, A1, A3, A4, A5, A6, A7, and A8. Also the Q series, Q2, Q3, Q5, and Q7. However, it would be interesting to know if people stick with brands and simply buy a different model, or do you switch brands and add credibility to the model expansion program? Maybe it just confuses people and make the brand less attractive, what are your thoughts?

What do buyers really want?

At AMVS we know that our clients look for particular features, and also are often looking for our advice on which model they should choose. So we question and look at features, use, and budget the client wants. We aren't brand loyal, its 100% about the client, rare these days. However, we have noticed that most people are becoming confused as to what makes the difference between two models, because now there are so many to choose from. For example, what is the difference between an Audi A4 and an A5. Answer, not a lot.  Still our Audi expert Andre can talk though your requirements and figure out which one is best suited. But he is an expert and does this for a living, can the average buyer figure it out? Probably not, and the sales person at the dealership with simply sell you the most profitable model they can. Not great for buyers.
